Mpoma Community HIV/AIDS Initiative

Innovative interventions to increase accessibility to safe water and empower rural communities in Nama Sub-County with proper sanitation and hygiene practices.

OUR MISSION

The Mpoma Community HIV/AIDS Initiative (MCHI) was founded in 1999 by a group of people either infected or affected by HIV/AIDS in south-central Uganda to improve both the education and health sector within vulnerable communities in Mukono District. In 2002, MCHI founded Johnson Nkosi Memorial Primary School to provide education to orphans and vulnerable children. Since 2013, MCHI has worked on the Water Access, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) Project in rural villages through construction of clean water sources and engaging community members in WASH trainings.

MCHI's vision is for our projects to become self-sustaining and for our partnered communities to be empowered to take ownership of their water sources and WASH practices.
